“Unai Emery Secures Deal for Son Lander Emery as Aston Villa News Breaks in Sutton Coldfield”
Aston Villa appears to have enlisted Lander Emery, the son of manager Unai Emery, who was seen
on the under-21s’ bench during Tuesday evening’s match against Sutton Coldfield.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper, formerly associated with Emery’s former club Valencia, may be on the brink of making his debut for Aston Villa’s under-21s, having been named as a substitute for the game.
Confirmation of Lander Emery’s role as the substitute goalkeeper was shared by
the Villa Academy’s official Twitter page on January 9. The announcement coincided with the return of
Lamare Bogarde from loan at Bristol Rovers, contributing to an exciting lineup for the Birmingham County FA Cup clash that also featured Rico Richards and Josh Feeney.
While Aston Villa has been active in promoting youth development, recently signing
George Hemmings from Nottingham Forest for the under-18s team, the addition
of Emery’s son to the under-21s suggests a potential undisclosed arrangement to bring Lander to Birmingham.
Aston Villa, under Unai Emery’s guidance since his appointment in
November 2022, has demonstrated a keen eye for talent, making the
prospect of Lander Emery’s inclusion on the bench against Sutton Coldfield an exciting development for the club’s youth prospects.
