In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Paul Brown suggested that Everton holds a strong interest in Fulham midfielder Harrison Reed. Brown recalled previous links between Everton and Reed,
emphasizing that the Toffees are genuinely impressed with the player. He pointed out that
former manager Marco Silva once praised Reed, considering him a potential England international. Brown, however, found the timing of the potential move peculiar, noting that Everton’s current midfield appears well-balanced.
Despite Reed’s positive performances this season for Fulham, featuring in
20 matches and contributing with one assist, Brown expressed reservations about the timing of
a potential move. He suggested that while Reed is playing well, Everton’s midfield dynamics might not provide him with the guaranteed starting role he could expect, given manager Sean Dyche’s tactical preferences.
Analyzing Reed’s season, the 28-year-old has showcased his abilities with an
average of 0.8 tackles, 0.8 clearances, and 0.5 key passes per game in the Premier League.
He has also demonstrated precision in passing, completing 87.6% of attempted passes.
Reed’s current contract with Fulham runs until the summer of 2027, making any move challenging for Everton to secure a cost-effective deal before the end of the current transfer window.
Describing Reed’s qualities, he is depicted as a robust midfielder adept at thwarting
opposition attacks and creating chances in the final third. Given his current form
and playing at his prime age of 28, Reed could provide Everton with added strength and tenacity in the midfield, making him a sensible target for the Merseyside club in the January transfer window.
