The potential transfer of a Celtic defender remains uncertain, despite interest from European clubs.

Celtic’s overlooked player, Gustaf Lagerbielke, seems to be no closer to leaving the club,

despite earlier rumors of interest from Italy. The Swedish international, signed in

the summer from Allsvenskan side Elfsborg as a replacement for Carl Starfelt, faced a challenging start in Scotland, prompting speculation of a potential loan move to Serie A clubs until the season’s end.

However, recent reports suggest that interest in the 23-year-old center-back has diminished, leaving his future uncertain in the second half of the campaign.

Despite Lagerbielke’s initial promise, he has fallen behind Cameron Carter-Vickers and

a revitalized Liam Scales in the defensive lineup. Maik Nawrocki and Stephen

Welsh are preferred as backups for Brendan Rodgers when the first-choice duo is unavailable.

While interest from Serie A has waned, Italian club Genoa might reconsider later in the transfer window, especially after the departure of Radu Drăgușin to Tottenham Hotspur in a £20 million deal.

On another front, Celtic is nearing a deal to acquire Nicolas Kuhn from

Rapid Vienna, with the winger undergoing a medical in London.

This move comes as a response to the struggles of summer signing Marco Tilio to make an impact and Daizen Maeda’s unavailability due to commitments with Japan at the Asian Cup.
