Gelhardt has encountered challenges in his current campaign at Elland Road, facing tough competition and dealing with injuries. With just eight appearances for the Whites this season and his only two league starts dating back to August, his situation has prompted interest from West Brom.

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon page, West Brom, led by Carlos Corberan, who left Leeds a month before Gelhardt’s arrival, are considering a loan deal. Corberan is reportedly eager to have Gelhardt on loan, but Leeds prefers that potential promotion rivals cover the forward’s wages entirely.

A move away from Elland Road could potentially rejuvenate Gelhardt’s career, which showed promise under Marcelo Bielsa in the 2021/22 season. Initially expected to be a regular in the Leeds side, Gelhardt gradually fell in the pecking order, and his loan to Sunderland last January saw him mostly playing in a deeper role, deputizing for Ross Stewart in the number nine position.
