“Everton’s Amadou Onana Emerges as Contender for Newcastle’s Almiron Amidst Saudi Interest: Transfer Talks in Progress”

Reports suggest that Saudi Arabia’s interest in Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron has led to Everton’s Amadou Onana being considered as a potential replacement.

Newcastle, amid a relatively quiet transfer window, has reportedly

entertained offers for players like Callum Wilson, Kieran Trippier, and Bruno Guimaraes.

Almiron, targeted by Saudi club Al-Shabab, is said to have a provisional agreement with them.

Despite Almiron being an attacker and Everton missing midfielder

Sandro Tonali due to a gambling-related ban, Onana is identified as a potential replacement.

According to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Onana, Nottingham

Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, Nice’s Khephren Thuram, Atalanta’s Ederson, and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone are all on the shortlist for Newcastle.

Onana had previously been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United,

indicating his desirability among top clubs.

While reports of an agreement between Newcastle and Al-Shabab

are considered premature, ongoing talks may lead to further developments.

If a January deal for Almiron doesn’t materialize, there’s an

expectation that Al-Shabab might revisit their interest

in the summer, potentially leading to an official bid for Onana.

Everton, holding Onana’s contract until 2027, has no urgency

to sell and could demand a fee exceeding £60 million, representing a significant profit from the £35 million they paid in 2022.

Despite assurances from manager Sean Dyche that

Onana is a key player in their future plans, transfer rumors persist during the January window.
