“West Ham Pursues Striking Reinforcements: Targets Boniface and Duran in January Transfer Window”

West Ham is actively seeking another striker and has identified Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran as potential targets for the January transfer window, according to information from Alan Nixon. The Sun journalist, using his X account on 24 January, reported the Hammers‘ interest in securing a striker, particularly emphasizing their preference for Boniface. Despite a prior rejected offer for Duran, West Ham might reconsider deals for both players.

Boniface is reportedly the primary choice for West Ham, having displayed impressive form with 16 goals in 23 appearances since joining the Bundesliga club in the summer. Nixon conveyed the club’s intent to explore options in the transfer market, emphasizing Boniface as the preferred candidate.

West Ham’s season at the London Stadium has generated excitement, currently holding the sixth position in the Premier League and progressing to the Europa League knockout stages.

However, the team has faced challenges with injuries, particularly to key players like Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen, in addition to Michail Antonio’s absence. Although Bowen’s injury is less severe than initially feared, and Mohammed Kudus is returning from international duty, there remains a sense that the squad needs reinforcement.

With David Moyes deploying Bowen as a striker rather than his natural winger position, there appears to be a gap in the team structure. Acquiring a dedicated striker before the transfer window closes on 1 February could potentially elevate West Ham’s performance in the challenging second half of the season.
