The Celtic community is mourning the loss of former player Stuart Gray, who passed away at the age of 50 after battling illness.

Stuart, the son of Eddie and nephew of Frank Gray, notable figures from the famed Leeds United side of the early 1970s, began his football journey in Celtic’s youth ranks. He made his debut in a 1-0 home victory over Aberdeen on May 1, 1993.

During his time with the Hoops, Stuart played in 32 games and scored one goal, with the memorable strike occurring in a 4-1 home win over Raith Rovers in May 1996.

In 1998, he joined Tommy Burns’ Reading side and spent three years there before a four-year stint with Rushden & Diamonds, amassing 142 appearances.

Celtic Park expresses deep condolences to Stuart’s family and friends during this difficult time. In tribute, the Celtic players will don black armbands in today’s game against Ross County.
