Jefte Speaks Out on Failed Rangers Transfer, Issues Substantial Apology to APOEL Hinting at Future Move.
Jefte, the player seeking a move, has been compelled to offer an apology to APOEL after attempting to push through a transfer to Rangers by going absent without leave (AWOL).
The 20-year-old, on the brink of joining the Scottish Premiership from Fluminense,
faced a deadlock as APOEL, the Cypriot league leaders, refused to terminate their loan
agreement with the Brazilian side midway through the season without compensation.
This impasse prevented Rangers from completing the deal before the January transfer window closed.
In an effort to force the move, the left-back skipped training but faced consequences, reportedly receiving a substantial fine and being excluded by manager Ricardo Sa Pinto from the squad that secured a 4-1 victory over Karmiotissa on deadline day.
Fans expressed discontent over his actions as he missed two crucial fixtures, and he
further distanced himself from the club by erasing any reference to it from his social media.
Despite uncertainties surrounding the future of Ridvan Yilmaz and Borna Barisic at Ibrox,
it is still anticipated that Jefte will make the move to Rangers at the conclusion of the current campaign.
However, in his apology to APOEL, he notably refrained from outlining his goals with the club beyond the ongoing season.
Addressing the situation on his Instagram page, the defender stated, “I would like to communicate my apology for being absent.
At the time of the incident, I was not feeling in a position to help the club and I chose to leave.
The institution deserves all my commitment, dedication, and focus, as it has been in the last few months, and as it will be from now on.
We remain stronger than ever and are now 100% focused on the main objective of winning the championship.”
