Premier League: Spurs’ rampaging play is denied by Everton After Sheffield’s thrashing, Aston Villa moves up to fourth.

Struggling in the Premier League, Everton managed to secure a 2-2 draw against Tottenham with Jarrad Branthwaite’s last-minute equalizer. Meanwhile, Aston Villa climbed to fourth place by demolishing Sheffield United 5-0.

Former Everton striker Richarlison, who had only scored one league goal for Tottenham between August 2022 and December 2023, has now netted nine times in the last eight league games. He put Tottenham ahead in the fourth minute and later restored their lead with a superb strike in the 41st minute.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou acknowledged the challenging nature of the game at Everton, stating, “It’s obviously never going to be an easy game here.” Despite Everton’s winless streak of six league games, manager Sean Dyche felt they deserved at least an equalizer.

Aston Villa moved above Tottenham in the standings with a convincing 5-0 victory over Sheffield United. John McGinn, Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey, Youri Tielemans, and Alex Moreno were the goal-scorers for Villa.

In another thrilling match, Newcastle staged a comeback to salvage a 4-4 draw against Luton at St James’ Park. Goals from Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Osho, Carlton Morris (with a retaken penalty),

and Elijah Adebayo for Luton were countered by Newcastle’s Longstaff, Kieran Trippier, and Harvey Barnes.

Brighton strengthened their European aspirations with a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace,

featuring goals from Lewis Dunk, Jack Hinshelwood, Facundo Buonanotte, and Joao Pedro.

Additionally, Burnley fought back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Fulham, inspired by David Datro Fofana’s double.
