Liverpool venues have responded critically to the Premier League’s decision to penalize Everton with a ten-point deduction for their refusal to host the next meeting of the European Leagues.

Despite Liverpool being selected as the next venue, reports from the Daily

Mail (printed on February 5, page 65) indicate that various venues across Merseyside expressed their disapproval

of the competition by refusing to host it.

The European Leagues consist of 40 professional football league members in Europe.

However, due to the Premier League’s involvement and the controversy surrounding

Everton, insiders have revealed a collective backlash against the decision.

The ongoing dispute between the Premier League and Everton has extended beyond the fanbase,

with Liverpool venues standing in solidarity against the Premier League’s actions.

Demonstrations, including yellow cards and boos during the Premier League anthem,

were observed at Goodison Park before the game against Tottenham.

Everton’s appeal against the ten-point deduction is currently in progress, with a decision

expected in mid-February.

The appeal argues that while the club admitted to rule violations, the imposed penalty is

disproportionately severe, highlighting the imposition of a significant sporting sanction

for a non-sporting incident.
