Club Establishes Spending Cap To Chase Everton Player
Barcelona has reportedly established a ceiling for the transfer fee they are willing to offer for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, as stated in reports from Catalunya.
Onana’s standout performances in the Premier League have attracted interest from several top clubs, including Arsenal and Newcastle United, who attempted to secure his signature during the winter transfer window.
However, their efforts were hindered by the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
Barcelona has been monitoring Onana for several months, with sporting director Deco purportedly eager to bring him to the Nou Camp.
According to the Catalan publication Sport, Deco has already initiated discussions with relevant parties to explore the feasibility of signing the Belgian midfielder.
Nevertheless, one significant factor that could impede Barcelona’s pursuit of Onana is Everton’s valuation for his sale.
The Toffees are reportedly seeking a fee in the region of €60 million before considering his departure.
Given their current financial constraints, Barcelona is unable to afford such a substantial sum for a single player.
The club would need to offload several players before they could allocate such funds towards acquiring Onana in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Deco has reportedly set a maximum limit of €40 million for the pursuit of Onana and is relying on the player to express his desire for a move to Barcelona.
However, it remains doubtful whether Everton would agree to part ways with the midfielder at this valuation, particularly considering the interest from other clubs.
