Two changes by Pep Guardiola, with a £250,000-a-week player starting… Man City’s anticipated lineup against Everton
City are hitting their stride following a 3-1 victory against Brentford, aiming to extend their winning streak to eight games against Everton.
Manchester City‘s anticipated lineup against Everton is unlikely to see significant changes
after their recent strong performance.
While the return of the Champions League next week might influence lineup decisions,
City’s relatively favorable draw against FC Copenhagen could allow for rotation.
Ederson is expected to start in goal, aiming to improve City’s defensive record as they have
conceded in 10 of their last 11 league games.
Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, and Nathan Ake are likely to feature in defense, with a potential shift
in role for Dias to accommodate John Stones’ return to the starting XI.
Stones, who recently recovered from a knock sustained against Everton in 2023, played a full 90 minutes in the win against Burnley and could partner Dias in central defense.
This adjustment might see Ake deployed at left-back and Josko Gvardiol relegated to the bench.
Jeremy Doku may replace Phil Foden on the left flank to exploit Everton’s defensive vulnerabilities,
especially with Seamus Coleman just returning from injury.
This change could result in Julian Alvarez being rested, with Foden moving to the midfield alongside Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne.
Bernardo Silva is expected to continue on the right, while Erling Haaland leads the attacking line.
Projected Manchester City lineup against Everton: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Ake; Rodri;
Bernardo; De Bruyne, Foden, Doku; Haaland.
