Sean McAllister, a Caley Thistle loanee, talks about playing up front, his relationship with Duncan Ferguson, and the future of the Toffees.

On Saturday, with forward Alex Samuel sidelined due to a broken hand, the 20-year-old deadline day signing was given his first start for the Championship club.

Recruited by Everton legend and current Inverness boss Duncan Ferguson,

McAllister led the attack alongside Billy Mckay in the 3-1 Scottish Cup defeat against top-flight opponents Hibs.

The midfielder was thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase his skills in such

a high-profile match, especially considering he hadn’t yet played a first-team senior

game for his English Premier League side.

“It was a great experience to start last Saturday, playing in front of the fans.

It was just a pity about the result,” McAllister commented.

Expressing his enjoyment at playing further up the pitch and contributing to

goal-scoring opportunities, McAllister noted his previous experience in that position.

Despite their defeat, he emphasized that they stayed competitive for much of the game,

but a couple of errors cost them in the end, with their goal coming too late to impact the outcome.

McAllister’s decision to join Inverness on loan was influenced by fellow Northern

Irish under-21 teammate Aaron Donnelly, who advised him to gain valuable first-team experience.

He also expressed confidence in working under Ferguson again, stating that the manager

has been supportive and instrumental in his development.

Regarding his contract situation with Everton, McAllister indicated that his focus is solely

on performing well for Inverness and helping the team climb the table.

While his contract with Everton expires this summer, he is prioritizing his contributions to Inverness at present.

Currently, Inverness, positioned eighth in the Championship, is gearing up to host third-placed

Partick Thistle this Saturday, followed by a crucial match against bottom-placed Arbroath seven days later.
