James Garner shows the Everton locker room while the appeal for a point deduction is still pending.

James Garner acknowledges that Everton’s players bear the responsibility of shaping the remainder of their season as they await the outcome of the club’s appeal against a 10-point deduction.

The appeal against the 10-point sanction, imposed due to an infringement of Premier League profit and sustainability rules, was heard last month, with a verdict expected before the end of this month.

Without the penalty, Sean Dyche’s side would currently enjoy an eight-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Nonetheless, Garner emphasizes that the team’s focus should be squarely on their

own performances and not on the outcomes of other teams or off-pitch events.

Speaking on the Total Sport show on Radio Merseyside, Garner stated,

“We can only control what we do, and that’s winning at the weekend. I’m not sure about the points deduction situation.

Without that, we’d be in the middle of the table. I feel like we’ve had a better season than last.”

Teammate Jarrad Branthwaite echoed Garner’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of focusing on winning games and taking each match as it comes.

Everton is set to return to Premier League action against Crystal Palace at Goodison

Park on Monday night. Despite their recent defeat to Manchester City, where they showed

resilience until Erling Haaland’s late goal, both Garner and Branthwaite remain optimistic about their team’s prospects, emphasizing the need to learn from past mistakes and perform better in upcoming fixtures.
