In response to Kyle Walker’s accusations that he made fun of the Man City star’s kids during their heated match, Neal Maupay says he has “never crossed the line” in football.

Neal Maupay has recently found himself at the center of clashes with fellow Premier League stars, earning him the reputation of the division’s “pantomime villain.”

These incidents began with a confrontation with James Maddison during Brentford’s

loss to Tottenham at the end of January.

Maupay then stirred controversy by allegedly making remarks about Kyle Walker’s

family following news of Walker fathering a child with someone other than his partner.

Despite facing criticism for his actions, Maupay denies crossing any lines and maintains that he was simply having fun with his on-field antics.

In an interview with The Times, he expressed frustration at having to defend himself against allegations regarding the clash with Walker, insisting that he did not say what was reported.

He teased that if people knew what he actually said, they would find it amusing.

Maupay sees football as entertainment and views his behavior on the pitch as part of the game. He believes in doing whatever it takes to win, including saying things to distract opponents.

He acknowledges that defenders also engage in similar tactics.

However, he insists that he is not malicious and points out that there were

no incidents during the recent match against Wolves because their center backs behaved differently.

The controversy surrounding Maupay intensified when he mimicked James Maddison’s darts celebration after scoring against Leicester City, prompting Maddison to confront him on the pitch.

Maddison later criticized Maupay’s actions and goal celebrations, which Maupay responded to by highlighting Maddison’s relegation record on social media.

In a humorous tone, Maupay remarked that Maddison took the celebration

personally, but he believes it did not affect the outcome of the match against

Tottenham, suggesting that if Spurs needed such provocations to win, they would be in trouble in the league.
