Everton: You need to start Sean Dyche Brighton vs. Jack Harrison following a “really amazing” moment
Sean Dyche should consider reinstating Jack Harrison into Everton’s starting lineup for their upcoming match against Brighton on Saturday (24 February).
During Everton’s recent fixture against Crystal Palace on Monday (19 February),
Harrison was initially relegated to the bench.
However, his impactful performance after coming on as a substitute demonstrated
his quality and value to the team. He contributed significantly to Everton’s
comeback, assisting in a late equalizer scored by Amadou Onana.
The decision to bench Harrison was partly influenced by the return of Abdoulaye Doucoure, who took up a midfield position behind forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Harrison had been playing in this role in recent weeks due to Doucoure’s absence,
despite his natural position being on the wing.
The choice to start Ashley Young on the right-hand side of midfield over
Harrison surprised many observers, including Danny Murphy, who
highlighted Harrison’s goal threat, agility, and strength compared to Young’s diminishing pace and power.
Upon Harrison’s introduction into the game against Crystal Palace, he injected
purpose and directness into Everton’s attacking play. He showcased his skills with 30 touches,
attempted five crosses, and won three out of four ground duels.
Harrison’s impressive performance included a particularly outstanding cross that
drew praise from commentator Alan Smith for its quality and delivery.
Despite none of his teammates capitalizing on it, the cross highlighted Harrison’s ability to create scoring opportunities.
Considering Harrison’s impactful cameo and his ability to provide quality in the
final third, Dyche would benefit from starting him against Brighton. In what promises to be a challenging match
at the Amex Stadium, Everton will rely on their best attacking players to secure a positive result,
with Harrison undoubtedly falling into that category.
