The Everton manager expresses satisfaction with the statistics that could save them from being relegated.

Sean Dyche has emphasized his satisfaction with Everton’s defensive performance this season despite their struggles in front of goal.

While goals have been hard to come by, Everton has maintained a solid defensive

record, ranking fourth best in the Premier League with only 33 goals conceded.

They also rank fourth for expected goals against, highlighting their defensive prowess.

This defensive strength could prove crucial in their battle against relegation,

especially considering that the teams below them have conceded significantly more goals.

However, Everton’s attacking record is among the league’s worst, which remains a concern for Dyche.

Speaking ahead of their match against Brighton, Dyche expressed pleasure in Everton’s defensive solidity but acknowledged the frustration of not converting defensive stability into goals.

He stated, “I’m pleased with that side of things. We ask the players to defend from the

front and they’re getting better at that. The biggest part of the challenge so far is transitioning into actual goals.

I do like the defensive framework of the whole team.”

Everton’s defensive strength is anchored by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who leads the league with eight clean

sheets, and the center-back pairing of James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Additionally, Vitalyi Mykolenko has provided solid defensive contributions, particularly

in one-on-one situations.

However, there is room for improvement at right-back, where Seamus Coleman has

been consistent but alternatives like Nathan Patterson have struggled for consistency.

Despite this, Everton’s strong defensive structure gives them hope of avoiding relegation,

provided they can improve their attacking output.
