Amid messages from Liverpool and Manchester City, Jorginho declares Arsenal the “underdogs” to win the title.

Arsenal defeated Newcastle 4-1 on Saturday night, getting to within two points of the top spot in the Premier League.

“Underdogs” in the Premier League title contest, according to Jorginho, are Arsenal. After a resounding 4-1 victory over Newcastle on Saturday night, Mikel Arteta’s team is only two points behind Liverpool in the Gunners‘ matchup with Manchester City.

Sven Botman’s own goal opened the scoring for the Gunners, and goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Jakub Kiwior completed an outstanding performance by Arteta’s team. But Joe Willock’s late header destroyed their perfect record.

City, the treble champions from last season, are the favorites to win the Premier League for an unprecedented fourth time in a row, while Liverpool wants to win a second title under manager Jurgen Klopp’s direction as a fitting farewell. Arsenal, on the other hand, is looking to build on their success from the previous campaign, when they won the league for 248 days before falling short to City.

Jorginho declared, “I like to be the underdog,” following his comeback to the starting lineup and his man-of-the-match display against Newcastle. “Let people speak; all we need to do is maintain our modesty, persevere in our hard work in the background, and never give up.”

We are on the correct track; all we need to do is keep pushing. Once we reach our destination, we will know where we are headed. We can maintain the momentum, which is what we need to accomplish. I think the best course of action for us to do is to keep working hard the way we are, maintain our faith, and enjoy this adventure together.

After a mid-season break in Dubai, Arsenal has improved their performance, and Jorginho is having fun with the game. “I think we were creating before but we were not finishing and now it feels that the calls are coming more,” he said.

“We are enjoying this moment and we just need to stay humble. It’s nice to see the boys scoring more goals and having fun while the team works hard.” Not only am I pleased with my performance, but the team as a whole as well, since we did really well, which is something that not everyone can say. Enjoying this occasion with an amazing team outside is truly a delight.”
