Everton shareholder responds instantly to news about the Premier League with an appeal
Everton shareholder Mike Parry has expressed his immediate reaction to the news of the club’s deduction of 10 points being reduced to six.
The Premier League and Everton announced the outcome of the appeals verdict, which saw four points reinstated. Consequently, Everton now sits five points clear of the relegation zone with
12 games remaining in the season.
Parry took to his personal Twitter page on February 26 to share his thoughts,
describing the outcome as a fantastic result and a just reward for the efforts of those at Everton who worked tirelessly
to challenge the initial punishment. While Parry believes Everton shouldn’t have been punished at all, he sees the
restoration of four valuable points as a significant boost for the club.
For Everton fans, this decision brings some much-needed clarity after three
months of uncertainty following the initial punishment. While the full restoration of 10 points would have
been preferable, the return of four points significantly alters the landscape of the Premier League table.
Now, it’s up to manager Sean Dyche and his players to maintain their healthy buffer
and avoid slipping back into the relegation zone.
However, there’s still the looming possibility of a second
Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) charge, which both Everton and Nottingham Forest are preparing for.
If an appeal is lodged, the final decision won’t be reached until a week after the Premier League season concludes.
Although there’s some clarity for Everton, the ongoing takeover saga and the potential
for further twists and turns in this unusual campaign ensure that uncertainty remains a constant factor.
