Manager discusses Nottingham Forest’s FFP status while reducing Everton’s point deduction.
Luton Town manager Rob Edwards emphasizes that his team cannot depend on potential points deductions for Nottingham Forest or further penalties for Everton regarding breaches of the Premier
League’s financial rules.
Nottingham Forest awaits a decision on possible sanctions after being charged in January, while Everton recently
saw their points deduction reduced from 10 to 6 points after appealing a similar breach,
but they still face the possibility of additional penalties.
Despite Everton’s adjustment moving them up to 15th place and Forest slipping to 17th, just four points above Luton, Edwards maintains that their league position remains challenging regardless of other teams’ circumstances.
Expressing that deductions shouldn’t be relied upon to secure their league position, Edwards
stresses the importance of controlling their fate through their own performances.
While acknowledging Everton manager Sean Dyche’s handling of the situation, Edwards
underscores the need for clarity on various issues for all involved.
Regarding potential further charges for Forest and Everton, Edwards asserts that
such factors are beyond their control and shouldn’t factor into their approach, urging a focus on their own
performance rather than hypothetical scenarios.
