Everton Excludes Relegation Release Clauses from Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford Contracts, Matt Hughes Reports

On Thursday (29 February), according to a report by The Daily Mail journalist, Everton has opted to include compulsory wage reductions in recent contracts while opting not to grant release clauses to some of their key players.
Sean Dyche’s team will have the freedom to sell Branthwaite and Pickford to the highest bidder in the event of relegation this season, while the remaining first-team players will face significant wage reductions.

Interestingly, Everton’s goalkeeper does not have a wage-cut clause in his contract at Goodison Park, as the club anticipates that the England goalkeeper will seek a transfer should they drop into the Championship.

Will Jarrad Branthwaite or Jordan Pickford Depart Everton This Summer?

This season, Everton
is embroiled in a relegation struggle. Despite this, they’ve made significant progress towards securing Premier League safety, as four of their ten-point deduction have been overturned following an appeal to an independent commission.
A potential second violation of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations could lead to another points deduction for Goodison Park. Dyche might find himself needing to guide Everton out of the relegation zone once more if this occurs.

Supporters will likely find relief in knowing that Everton won’t be losing some of their most valuable assets for minimal returns this summer. They’ll still be in a position to command substantial fees for Branthwaite and Pickford if they find themselves in the Championship. Hopefully, Dyche’s team won’t need to concern themselves with offloading their stars in the Championship. For once, Everton has shown prudent preparation on the business front at Goodison Park.
