Everton faced a setback in securing their first home win of the season, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Leicester City on Sunday.
Despite dominating significant portions of the match and making six changes from their midweek loss, the Toffees couldn’t regain their rhythm after Janice Cayman’s second-half strike.
Brian Sørensen’s lineup changes included Kathrine Kuhl and Rikke Madsen, who made their first starts at Walton Hall Park in royal blue.
The Blues had a promising start, with Kuhl attempting a chip from 30 yards early on, narrowly missing the target. Everton came close to scoring in the first half, hitting the crossbar with Katja Snoeijs’ attempt and Emma Bissell’s effort going just wide.
Aurora Galli also had a near miss, denied by Leicester’s goalkeeper Lize Kop.
The second half saw Everton’s continued momentum, but missed opportunities proved costly.
Leicester took the lead on 53 minutes when Jutta Rantala set up Cayman, who curled the ball past Everton’s goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan. Despite efforts to draw level, including a chip from substitute Hanna Bennison, Everton couldn’t overcome the deficit.
The defeat leaves Everton looking to regroup, with their next match set as an away fixture against Chelsea in London next weekend.
