Bryan King Criticizes Everton’s Transfer Approach, Labels Them as ‘Major Losers’ Amid Ben Godfrey Departure Speculations

The announcement comes amid speculations linking Ben Godfrey, a central defender for Everton, to a potential transfer to the Italian club Genoa.

Notably, Genoa is associated with the 777 Partners umbrella, the

US investment firm currently in the process of finalizing a takeover of Everton.

Commenting on the situation, King, in conversation with Goodison News, expressed skepticism, stating,

“The deal for the club hasn’t been done yet. It sounds like something to appease the supporters.

I would have thought the first thing they would have wanted to get over

the line was the actual deal for the club.

There is a question mark over that still.”

Highlighting the unusual aspect of the potential transfer, King mentioned,

“You’re taking a player over from a club you’re going to buy to

a club you already own, and I can’t imagine

the fee being more than £5 million or £6 million.”

King also pointed out Everton’s substantial financial losses in transfer dealings, stating,

“Everton have been one of the biggest losers in money loss from transfers.

They have lost over £200 million on transfers.

In the list of clubs who have lost the most money on transfer dealings, I think Everton are eighth out of 10.”
