Ally McCoist responds live on talkSPORT to the news of Dele Alli’s departure, calling it “really, really sad.”

Ally McCoist expressed deep sadness after hearing reports that Dele Alli might leave Everton without playing another game for the club.

During a live talkSPORT segment, pundit McCoist reacted to suggestions from

reporter Alex Crook that Alli might not feature under manager Sean Dyche and

could follow Jesse Lingard’s path abroad, potentially to Saudi Arabia.

Crook mentioned Lingard’s move to South Korea and suggested that Alli might

face similar challenges finding a top Premier League club.

McCoist expressed his sadness at the situation, particularly for Alli, given his talent and previous success.

Alli’s recent football career hasn’t gone as planned, and he has spoken openly about personal struggles. While injuries have hindered his progress, Dyche indicated that Alli was in a good place mentally.

However, it seems unlikely that Alli will make a significant contribution to Everton’s current

season, especially with his contract expiring in the summer.

There’s uncertainty about whether Everton will extend Alli’s contract, especially

considering the financial implications, including a clause that would require Spurs to receive £10 million

after seven more appearances. Despite the gamble Everton took in acquiring Alli, his on-field

performance hasn’t met expectations.

Ideally, Alli would prefer to continue playing regularly in the Premier League, but

improvements in off-field situations provide some positive context to his overall situation.
