“Liam Scales Shines in Aerial Play Rankings: Celtic Defender Breaks Into Global Top 60 Amid Contract Speculations”

Liam Scales’ journey with Celtic seemed uncertain in the summer, but a remarkable turnaround saw him rise to prominence amid an injury crisis, securing a regular spot in Brendan Rodgers’ defensive lineup.

Despite his contract expiring at the end of the next season, Scales is optimistic about Celtic extending his stay, considering his outstanding performance. Recent accolades include his inclusion in the top 60 worldwide for aerial play, as revealed by the CIES Football Observatory’s research on center-backs globally.

Scales holds an impressive 60th position with an index score of 81.4, surpassing players like Nathan Ake, Axel Disasi, and Dayot Upamecano.

Notably, he is the sole representative from the Scottish Premiership in this esteemed group.

The rankings are determined by factors such as the number and percentage of aerial duels won, playing time, duel frequency, and the level of matches played.

Leading the list is former Celtic star Virgil van Dijk, followed by Min-jae Kim

of Bayern Munich and PSG’s Danilo Pereira, with Newcastle’s Jamal

Lascelles surprisingly securing the fourth position.
