Premier League point deduction appeal forecast by former Everton CEO

Premier League point deduction appeal forecast by former Everton CEO

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness expresses optimism regarding his ex-club’s appeal against a 10-point deduction in the Premier League.

He believes there’s potential for a favorable outcome, suggesting Everton could even recover

all of the deducted points.

The appeal process, which reportedly took place between January 31 and February 2, has drawn

attention due to the comparison with Portsmouth’s administration penalty in 2009/10.

Wyness, who led Everton from 2004 to 2009 and now advises top-tier football clubs, shared his views on the Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

Wyness anticipates positive news around Valentine’s Day, likening it to receiving roses instead of thorns.

He notes a shift in media speculation towards a favorable outcome for Everton and praises

Laurence Rabinowitz KC, the new lawyer leading the appeal, for presenting a strong case.

Wyness criticizes the Premier League’s handling of the situation, highlighting their press releases

and briefings prior to the appeal despite instructing clubs to refrain from commenting.

He suggests that the league’s actions have led to confusion and speculates that the best-case scenario for Everton would be a reduction or complete removal of the points deduction, possibly replaced with a

suspended punishment.
