Manchester United Has Rekindled Interest in Frimpong; Celtic Will Get Amount From Possible Sale

The Dutch defender, who has been performing exceptionally well during Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten streak in the league, had previously caught the attention of Manchester United as a potential addition to their squad.

Frimpong’s standout performance was showcased in Leverkusen’s recent 3-0 victory over Bayern

Munich, where he came off the bench to score the third goal.

This impressive form has attracted interest from several major European clubs, including

Manchester United, who are looking to strengthen their defensive options.

One intriguing aspect of any potential deal for Frimpong is the financial benefit it could bring to Celtic.

The Scottish club is entitled to 30% of any profit Leverkusen make from the sale of Frimpong,

thanks to a clause in the deal that transferred him from Glasgow to Leverkusen.

With reports suggesting Frimpong has a €40m (£34.7m) release clause in his contract, Celtic

could stand to earn around £6.2m if he moves for that amount.

Manchester United had previously held discussions with Frimpong’s representatives last year,

considering him as a target for the 2023 summer transfer window.

Despite interest from other clubs, Frimpong reaffirmed his commitment to Leverkusen by

signing a new contract that extends until 2028, in October 2023.

At 23 years old, a move to one of Europe’s top clubs appears to be on the horizon for Frimpong.
